Come explore our small Viking village. Here, it's not about warriors in battle, but about home and craftsmanship.
Step inside reconstructions of Viking houses such as pit houses, where the Vikings wove and forged, or the Hedeby house with clay walls and a hearth in the middle. Explore the interior of the houses at your own pace or watch the village come to life during the holidays.
1.
Step into the Viking's home
The Viking village features seven reconstructed houses from the Viking Age, where you can sit on the sleeping benches in the semi-subterranean house from Uldal, feel the clay plaster in the Hedeby house, or watch the wood take shape under the lathe in the carpentry house. On weekends and holidays, real Vikings live in the houses and share their crafts and everyday life with you.

2.

Life in the village
During the Easter, summer, and fall holidays, you can step into a living Viking village where fires burn in the smithy, craftsmen shape wood and textiles, and the smell of bonfires fills the air. Families can try their hand at plant dyeing, forging and casting jewelry, carving runes, and making campfire food together with volunteer Vikings who bring the craft to life. Here, the Viking Age becomes something you can feel, smell, and be a part of.

3.
Help bring Trelleborg to life
You may also find that the woodworking shop or smithy is busy outside of the holidays, as on the last Saturday of the month and most Wednesdays, our volunteers from various craft guilds visit. They sit outside, weather permitting, and are happy to show off their craftsmanship and skills. If you get hooked, you can join one of the volunteer guilds yourself.

Daily life in a Viking village
The Viking Age was not just about raiding distant lands; the vast majority of Vikings were farmers who lived on their farms and tended their animals, fields, and villages.
