Volunteers at Trelleborg

Help us bring Trelleborg to life

Become part of a strong community as a Viking or practical volunteer and help Trelleborg bring the Viking Age to life. Without the dedicated “Vikings,” the museum's everyday life, many activities, and authentic experiences would not be the same.

There are several ways to volunteer

Trelleborg has a fantastic collaboration with a broad group of volunteers. Trelleborg's friends, divided into guilds, and the Castle People. The museum's “Vikings” are skilled blacksmiths, wood and textile craftsmen who live the Viking life in the village of Slagløse and the old longhouse.

Folk of the Fortress

You can be part of the practical working group, the Castle Folk, which contributes to the construction and maintenance of objects, the Viking houses, and the castle area itself, as well as reconstruction work and assistance at major events. You don't have to be a ‘Viking’ to be part of the Castle Folk. You can participate in communicating with guests, helping in the shop, or assisting during holidays and events, such as the annual Viking Festival, Midsummer's Eve, or the World Ballet at the Castle.

Friends of Trelleborg

You can also sign up for Friends of Trelleborg, which offers various craft guilds and meets at Trelleborg once or twice a month on guild days, as well as every Wednesday in the Wednesday club. Friends of Trelleborg offers an engaged and knowledgeable Viking community with training in Viking crafts and other aspects of Viking life, workshops and courses, as well as many events. In addition, Friends of Trelleborg actively participates in the development of Trelleborg, as well as in many communication tasks.
