Address
Viking Fortress Trelleborg
Trelleborg Allé 4, Hejninge
DK-4200 Slagelse
Public transportation
In 2026, a free bus route will be established from Slagelse station to Trelleborg. The bus will run hourly from March 31 to October 31.
The free Viking bus is number 909. The bus does not run on Mondays, and it takes about 30 minutes to get to Trelleborg.
During the rest of the season, it is possible to take the purple free bus to Trelleborg Friskole on weekdays, after which it is an approx. 8-10 minute walk to Trelleborg.
Please note: With the free bus, the total journey time is approx. one hour and 15 minutes. The free bus does not run on weekends.
Parking
Parking at the Viking fortress Trelleborg is free and without time restrictions. It is possible to park in front of the museum.
Please note: During Trelleborg's annual Viking festival (July 11-19, 2026), the parking lot at the museum will often be full. Trelleborg recommends parking in the parking lot at Trelleborg Alle. Loading and unloading is permitted at the museum.
It is possible to park by the field on Hejningevej if Trelleborg's own parking lot is full.
During the last four days of the Trelleborg Viking Festival, the Battle of Trelleborg takes place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. We recommend arriving at least two hours before the battle begins.
Parking spaces for disabled
You can find disabled parking spaces close to the museum. During the annual festival, these spaces may be occupied. In this case, please contact the museum entrance.
Buses and trucks. There are signs indicating space for buses in the parking lot. If it is full, please contact the museum entrance. Please note: If you are arriving by bus or truck, use exit A40 and the bypass, as there is a low bridge at Hejningevej from exit 40B.
Photography
You are welcome to take photos and film when visiting Vikingeborgen Trelleborg for private use (e.g. holiday photos, photos you share on your own private accounts on the internet). You can find Vikingeborgen Trelleborg on Instagram (@trelleborgvikingeborg) or on Facebook (Vikingeborgen Trelleborg).
As the objects on display at Trelleborg must not be damaged, we recommend that you do not use flash in the museum exhibition. Please avoid disturbing other museum visitors when taking photographs.
Professional photography for commercial publication must be approved by the museum director.
Drone photography
A permit is required to fly a drone over the Viking fortress. Contact Trelleborg Museum Director Anne-Christine Larsen for more information.
Baby carriages and changing tables
It is possible to get around with a stroller at Trelleborg.
Please note: the ring castle itself has grass rather than gravel. You can access our Viking village “Slagløse” via the gravel path. There is a changing table by the toilet in the museum shop, which can be used free of charge when the museum shop is open.
Museum shop
The museum shop follows Trelleborg's opening hours, but can be opened outside these hours by arrangement. The shop has a wide selection of items, including drinking horns and replicas of Viking jewelry made from amber, silver, bronze, and leather. You will also find mead, Viking coloring books, reference books, wooden tableware and weapons, woolen clothing, and felt products from local artisans.
For further information, please contact Judith Winther Olsen, museum host and manager of our museum shop.
