The Vikings played their whole lives

The sagas describe how the Vikings entertained themselves with demanding strength and combat games. The games trained their endurance, raw strength, and agility, but also something even more important: the ability to work together. Through competition and play, they learned each other's strengths and weaknesses, so that they stood stronger together both in everyday life and in battle.
